Sikkens, long known for its leadership and innovation in the auto refinish industry, is AkzoNobel's vehicle refinishing premium brand and has brought its strong tradition of partnership and customer-driven service to new heights as an official technology partner to the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 team.

We were approached by Vodafone McLaren Mercedes to develop new coatings for their Formula 1 cars, which not only had to stand out and look good, but also had to take into consideration requirements such as heat resistance, color consistency and speed of drying times - as well as weight-saving of course.

We are able to draw on a huge reserve of knowledge and technology to give McLaren an extra edge on the track, and in return, we are making new discoveries about the performance of our coatings under the extreme conditions that F1 racing subjects them to. That’s knowledge that we will put to good use in delivering even better, more durable, more sustainable, higher performance solutions to our customers.
