Guest Speakers
Our guest speakers for the 2011 Colour seminars are the internationally renowned color expert, architect and designer, Per Nimer and our Senior Colour Designer Tiffany Allison - Hall.
Per Nimer
Per Nimer’s first introduction to colour was watching his grandfather and father working in the family paint shop. This gave him his intuitive knowledge of not only colour but also paint, painters and paint customer behaviour.
After gaining degrees in both interior architecture and graphic design at the University of San Francisco he set up his own architectural studio, firstly in California and later in his home country of Sweden.
He then changed focus to graphic design as Department Director at the RMI-Berghs School of Advertising in Malmo.
Per has been a member of the Board of Directors of both the Colour Institute in Stockholm and the Colour Marketing Group, Alexandria Virginia. He is the author of “Dare to Paint” a colour and design book which is available in 12 languages. He has published numerous articles, appeared on television presenting on trends and travelled the world presenting on colour.
In recent years he has been the Global Design Manager of AkzoNobel leading the company’s creative work on colour collections. This has involved the development of marketing concepts for both global and local customers and markets.

Tiffany Allison-Hall
Having gained qualifications in Interior & 3 Dimensional Design, Tiffany started her career working for a number of leading retailers such as Laura Ashley & Next Home, offering interior design and range advice to their customers.
In the summer 1994 she joined ICI Paints as a Commercial Design Consultant working from one of the company’s largest showrooms based in Nottingham. She then went on to gain experience in Merchandising and display layouts before progressing to the role of Commercial Colour Consultant in 2000.
Over the eleven years in this role, Tiffany has gained valuable knowledge and experience offering clients colour solutions in many commercial sectors including Education, Healthcare, Social Housing and Local Authority projects.
Tiffany believes that colour is very intuitive and although the basics can be taught, feels that true insight comes from being able to see the subtleties within each hue. Tiffany says” My enthusiasm and passion for colour started at an early age influencing what went on my bedroom walls to what colour I wanted my hair that week! I love the way a colour can change your mood, it can bring warmth and light where there are none or create drama and interest in equal measure”.
Recently Tiffany has become one of the Senior Colour Designers for Akzo Nobel (who purchased ICI Paints in 2008) allowing her to be involved with projects on a National basis. Her inspiration today comes from her love of the natural world, finding interesting colour combinations in everyday life as well as her obsession with all things floral!
