Sadolin

Sadolin goes back over 200 years. A lot has changed since then, but one thing remains the same: our passion for timber. This passion, combined with our commitment to producing quality products, has made us one of the world’s foremost specialists in woodcare.

The Sadolin story began in 1777 when Jacob Holmblad was given royal permission to establish a textile dye works in his native Denmark. Within three generations, it was a thriving paint and varnish business.

The second half of our story also happened in Denmark. In 1912 the Holmblad company joined forces with Gunnar A Sadolin, a young and experimental businessman. Sadolin had been producing wax colors inspired by the colors of Egyptian antiquities. It was a combination of heritage and innovation that’s still at the heart of our business today.

Where we are today

Sadolin is now a multinational company selling woodcare protection products in 97 countries worldwide. We know all there is to know about wood and what’s needed to nurture and protect it.

We also respect the sources of that timber. We do our best to be as environmentally friendly as possible. That’s why we’ve entered into partnership with climate change business Carbon Neutral to offset aspects of our manufacturing.
