History
Developments in China
AkzoNobel started to supply its products to the China market in the late 1970s. Shortly afterwards it established five representative offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Chongqing and Guangzhou, marking its first direct presence there.
Through its rapid developments during the past three decades, AkzoNobel now has 27 manufacturing facilities, one innovation center, one service center as well as a nation-wide network of sales offices in China.

Exported products to China through distributorship.
Early 1980s
Established representative offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Chongqing and Guangzhou.
1982
International Paint of AkzoNobel made a Toll Manufacturing agreement.
1986
Acquired 70% of Develing Deheer, its key distributor partner in China.
1990
Opened AkzoNobel Changcheng Powder Coatings.
1994
Identified China as key growth territory. Fully acquired Develing Deheer. Established AkzoNobel (Shanghai) Ltd. as a corporate service function in China.
1996
Opened Tianjin AkzoNobel Peroxides Co., Ltd.
1999
Opened Eka Chemicals (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.
2001
Opened AkzoNobel Car Refinishes (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.
Opened AkzoNobel Coatings (Dongguan) Co., Ltd.
2002
Opened AkzoNobel MCA (Taixing) Co., Ltd.
2003
Opened the following plants:
AkzoNobel Coatings (Tianjin) Co., Ltd.
AkzoNobel Coatings (Jiaxing) Co., Ltd.
2008
AkzoNobel acquired ICI.
International Paint opened new factory in Suzhou.
2009
Interpon of AkzoNobel opened new innovation center in Ningbo.
