In a changing world, it’s important for all of us to build new skills and achieve new goals. Our performance and development program is designed to do just that. It helps you make the most of your talents. And it helps us get the best from our most valuable resource: our people.
Appraising your performance
The Performance & Development Dialog (P&D Dialog) is the program we use worldwide to assess our people’s performance and help them to improve and grow.
Along with your manager, you’ll set performance objectives for the coming year. This will be followed by a mid-year review and a year-end assessment. You take the lead in all three phases – from proposing your objectives to beginning your self-assessment at the year’s end.
Meeting your longer-term needs
Once we’ve appraised your performance, we use the Development Dialog part of the P&D Dialog to look at what’s needed in the longer term to develop your skills. You’ll discuss your development needs and career planning with your manager and agree what’s required. Your manager will actively support your development and will be measured on this.
How we measure performance
We’ll assess your performance on six measures:
- results orientation
- customer focus
- quality commitment
- commitment to our values.
Your manager is also assessed on three additional measures:
- stimulating an open climate
- managing performance
- developing others.
