We wondered what would happen if Lewis Hamilton’s Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 car was driven through 1,200 liters of AkzoNobel’s Sikkens paint.
To help promote our recent partnership with the reigning F1 champions, we decided to find out.
Following a painstaking series of preparations and months of planning, Hamilton’s high performance MP4-24 became the focus of an AkzoNobel Car Refinishes campaign featuring images of the car accelerating through pools of red and silver paint. The resultant cascade – which saw paint being sprayed in all directions – was captured on two 50 square meter canvases placed either side of the vehicle. Click here to watch 'Making of' movie .
The unique works of art that were produced in such spectacular style are now a central part of the global promotion, which highlights our position as the official supplier of paint solutions to the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 team.
The artworks feature prominently in all promotional material, including a special manual, while a thrilling “making of” movie has also been produced which captures all the excitement of how the canvases were created.
Launched in January, the new Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-24 has been finished with a sophisticated, state-of-the art system of Sikkens products tailor-made by AkzoNobel Car Refinishes to meet the unique technical demands of grand prix racing.
