Bermocoll in Paint
The right characteristics with Bermocoll
We at AkzoNobel have served the paint industry for more than 50 years with Bermocoll, a range of non-ionic dellulose ethers. Bermocoll is used as a thickener, stabilizer and water retaining agent for water-based decorative paints.
Bermocoll is available in a wide range of viscosities, and variety of modified grades. When we manufacture Bermocoll, the celllulose reacts with different substituents such as methyl, ethyl, hydroxyethyl, or hydrophobic groups. This process is called etherfication and it makes Bermocoll water soluble.
Bermocoll E grades are ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose
Bermocoll EM grade is an ethyl methyl hydroxyethyl cellulose ether, and is a high efficiency thickener
Bermocoll EBS and EBM grades are resistant against enzymatic attack
Bermocoll EHM grades are hydrophobically modified EHEC and are resistant against enzymatic attack
