The chemical solution in oilfield applications
Dissolvine® chelating agents are used in various oilfield applications such as cementing, completion, stimulation, production, gas sweetening and enhanced oil recovery to re-dissolve calcium, barium and strontium scales. In commercially available processes, ferric ions oxidize hydrogen sulfide to elemental sulfur. Dissolvine® chelating agents activate the ferric ions and prevent them from precipitating. In DeNoX processes Dissolvine® metal chelates enable nitrous oxide to dissolve in water, making it available for chemical and bacterial reduction to nitrogen.
Application versus function:
Cementing
- cement retardation
Completion
- removal of filter cake
Stimulation
- chelates are used separate or in combination with acids to improve the
permeability of the formation by dissolution of mineral deposits,
such as CaCo3. Simultaneously, chelates help prevent re-precipitation of
ferric scales
Production
- prevent or re-dissolve unwanted metal scales, such as SrSO4, BaSO4 and CaCO3
Gas Sweetening
- removal of sour gas (H2S)
