Education Fund was set up by Plan Nederlands and AkzoNobel in November 1994.The aim was to help children in developing countries fulfill their potential by improving the quality of their education.
The fund supports a wide range of projects, from investing in school infrastructure to teacher training and promoting health and hygiene, and operates in all countries where AkzoNobel is present. Children as young as three years old benefit from the company’s involvement, right up until they leave secondary school.
Active fund-raising by AkzoNobel’s businesses, as well as employee donations, contribute to Education Fund. Over the past 15 years, around 65 projects in 15 countries – including Bolivia, Brazil, China, Ecuador, India, the Philippines and Vietnam – have been completed, benefiting thousands of children and their communities.
