Industrial IT is a clever, safe and cost-efficient way of working together to assure access to essential chemicals. Data points are logged every second or every minute, depending on the chemical in question.

IT is widespread, but information doesn’t mean anything if you don’t know what to do with it. Our process engineers do.

Take Kimona Häggström, for instance. She gets a kick out of putting her knowledge to good use. Twenty years ago, fresh out of high school, she joined our R&D department in Stockvik in northern Sweden. Today, as part of a group connected 24-7, she monitors chlorine dioxide and Purate plants at mills across Europe.

“Customers don’t run dry with us. Our data is reliable, and our vast experience of chemicals and papermaking processes means we can act as their very own process engineers would. When divergences occur, we call the operators on site with adjustments long before their process is affected.”

Improving your process

Kimona’s past in R&D has given her in-depth insight, extending from molecules to full-scale production.

“I see my job as more than just supervision. I’m always looking for improvements. Helping our customers become more efficient is the really rewarding part. But there’s no such thing as a magic wand. And that’s what makes the job fun. Every mill is different, and it takes close cooperation with the mill’s onsite operators to get the job done. Even at a distance!”
