Eka Purate®

 

Eka Purate is a unique and new approach to microbiological control, already well established in the industry. As an effective bactericide for pulp and paper production based on a patented concept for generating chlorine dioxide on-site, Eka Purate offers both environmetal and economical advantages.

Areas of application:

• Microbiological control with Eka Purate
  Eka Chemicals' microbiological control program consists of Eka Purate technology including equipment, monitoring and analysis program.
• Bleaching non-wood pulps
  Non-wood fibers contain less lignin than wood and are therefore easier to pulp. Depending on the source of non-wood, the pulp can be bleached to full or semi-full brightness. The conventional method to bleach non-wood pulp is with chlorine and hypochlorite. The negative environmental effect from that is well known and steps have been taken to convert to modern bleaching technology based on chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide and oxygen.
  
  Eka Purate technology is ideal for small non-wood pulp mills, which typically have a daily requirement of 5 MT ClO₂, or less. Our technology provides a low capital solution for pulp mills desiring to implement or expand chlorine dioxide bleaching.
• Water treatment
  Eka Purate technology offers customers a safe, cost-effective and reliable method to produce chlorine dioxide for small scale water treatment applications in a pulp and paper mill site. Typical water treatment applications include cooling towers, process water, waste water, odor control, and more.

Patented formulation

Eka Purate, a patented and proprietary formulation of sodium chlorate, hydrogen peroxide and stabilizers is combined with sulfuric acid in Eka's SVP-Pure® generator to produce a chlorine dioxide solution of about 3 gpl that is piped to the application. When combined with Eka's proprietary L-R process, the solution is recirculated through the generator and ClO₂ concentrations of up to 8 gpl are available.
