Retention monitoring

 

For continuous online monitoring and retention control at the wet end, Eka Chemicals offers you the Eka Monitrol system. By using it, you receive continuous measurement of solids, ash and floc in both the headbox and tray samples, which minimizes variation in retention. By stabilizing retention, you ensure more consistent optical properties, sizing formation and sheet strength. Monitrol units are modular, and easy to install and calibrate.

The system consists of two or three (depending of paper machine type) interconnected measuring modules with the advanced CWF sensor featuring improved measurement accuracy and floc characterisation.

The outputs are available as trends and numerical values on the LCD screen .

The modules can be connected to the data presentation module for remote presentation and calibration and can further be complemented with an interface module so that measured values can be transferred to the Mill Instrumentation System.

A unique feature of the measuring modules is that the calibration can either be performed in the module itself or on a PC at any location. In the latter case, the calibration constants are automatically transferred or easily put into the module. A calibration manual is supplied with each system. The monitoring accuracy is dependent on the type of furnish. Grade-specific calibration may sometimes be applied to obtain the best accuracy.

As the sensor contains no moving parts and the laser diode is driven by controlled power - to maintaining the intensity of the light and increasing the life of the laser - the maintenance of the measuring modules is reduced to a minimum.
