IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUR CUSTOMERS

REACH registrations and identified uses
We are currently working on the REACH registration of the substances in our products, which has to be submitted to the European Chemicals Agency by November 30, 2010, at the latest. In view hereof, we have contacted you via a questionnaire by e-mail, in order to inform you on the uses we intend to cover in our registrations. For our updated lists of uses and the Generic Exposure Scenarios (GES), which cover the vast majority of (combinations of) use click here.

We urge you to verify that your uses are covered by our GES. If you think that your uses are still not covered by our GES, please contact us before April 29, 2010. Please send us your comments in line with the GES, taking into account article 37(2) of REACH. This article describes the rights and obligations of downstream users. We kindly ask you not to send us lists of use categories (SUs), product categories (PCs), process categories (PROCs) and Environmental Release Categories (ERCs), since these will not be taken into account.
We do not guarantee that comments received after the aforementioned deadline will be taken into account. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

One single system
It is the biggest regulatory framework ever for the chemical industry and its downstream users in Europe: the new REACH legislation has entered into force on June 1st, 2007. REACH is an integrated system for the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of all CHemicals manufactured, imported and used in the European Union. The aim is to improve the protection of human health and the environment through better and earlier identification of the properties of chemical substances. This regulation replaces 40 existing legal acts and creates one single system for all existing and future chemicals substances, which must be registered with a new European Chemicals Agency.

Trusted REACH partner – leader in its practice
As one of the sustainability leaders in the chemical industry, we are well placed to support our customers, and our aim is clear – we want you to recognize us as a trusted REACH partner and leader in its practice.

Industrial Chemicals is one of the business units within AkzoNobel. In the brochure, you find on this internet site, we outline the process and how we are working to minimize the impact on your day-to-day business.

We’ll provide you with the right information at the right time, and our dedicated REACH team offers expert support to answer any questions you may have.

Improved Product Stewardship
In the past it has not always been possible to obtain information on how chemicals are used downstream. The new REACH regulation means there is a strong incentive for information to be made available – which in turn allows AkzoNobel to improve its product stewardship.

Registration
People throughout Industrial Chemicals are working on gathering the information we need, to submit the dossiers before the registration deadline. The dossiers consist of lots of test data and descriptions of customer uses of the substances.

Voluntarily cooperation
We are voluntarily working with companies, manufacturing and/or importing the same substances, in consortia. Industrial Chemicals plays an active role in these consortia to ensure timely registration.
