Purity, Density & Pressure
Purity
AkzoNobel Industrial Chemicals produces Demeon® D or Dimethyl ether in one, pure grade. Especially the low maximum methanol contents shows the production process is capable of producing this pure grade.
The maximum C1/C4 (alkanes and CO2) contents is 50 mg/kg (a), maximum methanol contents is 1 mg/kg (b) and the maximum water contents is 50 mg/kg (c). The total of a + b + c is maximum 100 mg/kg, creating a minimum 99.99 wt% DME grade.
Density
The density of Demeon® D varies versus the temperature. The volume expansion of Dimethyl ether from 20 degrees Celcius to 50 degrees Celcius is over 9 percent.
Pressure
The saturated vapour pressure relation with the temperature for Demeon® D or Dimethyl ether is given in this graph. Detailed information on pressure/temperature relations for blends of Dimethyl ether with solvents like ethyl alcohol and/or water are available upon request.
