Official Rules

  1. These rules (including the AkzoNobel Privacy Policy) govern the Tomorrow’s Answers Today poster competition sponsored by AkzoNobel (the “competition”) and set out the terms and conditions between AkzoNobel N.V. and its affiliates (“AkzoNobel” or “us/we”) and each participant (“participant” or “you”).

  2. By submitting your entry you accept these rules.

  3. Employees of the AkzoNobel group, advertising and promotion agencies, and the immediate families of each may not enter.

  4. The competition is open to students who are pursuing graduate (masters, PhD, or post-doctoral) research in the chemical sciences or technologies, including chemistry, chemical engineering and material science at an educational institution in Sweden.

  5. Participants may compete as individuals or as teams of up to three members.

  6. If you are submitting an entry on behalf of a team, you represent that you have the rights to act as the sole representative for submitting the entry, to accept these rules on behalf of the members of the team and to accept any prizes.

  7. We may refuse or disregard your entry for any reason.

  8. By submitting your entry, including the ideas, works and information contained therein:
    • you agree that the entry is not confidential and can be used by AkzoNobel in relation to this competition and in relation to its business;
    • you agree that AkzoNobel is licensed a world-wide, non-exclusive, perpetual right to use your entry, including the right to publication, reproduction and distribution in whatever media and form; you waive any moral rights related to the entry;
    • you warrant that, to the best of your knowledge, the entry is not owned by a third party such as your employer, and you warrant that use of the application does not infringe third party rights or breach any contractual duty, and;
    • you indemnify and hold AkzoNobel harmless for damages resulting from infringement, breach of warranty or breach of contract caused by AkzoNobel's use of the entry. 
  9. Apart from souvenirs and prizes offered as part of the competition, no monetary compensation will be paid for the entry and any of your competition entries.

  10. AkzoNobel is not responsible for competition entries not received due to lost, failed, delayed or interrupted connections or miscommunications, or other electronic malfunctions. AkzoNobel is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information, whether caused by you or any other persons or by any of the equipment.

  11. AkzoNobel may select winners at its sole discretion. AkzoNobel has no obligation to publish or disclose to you the basis or reasoning for the selection.

  12. Your personal data will be used for the purpose of this competition only. You may ask a copy of your personal data and you may edit your personal data by sending a request to postercompetition@akzonobel.com. By submitting your entry, you provide AkzoNobel with consent to process and maintain your personal data for the purpose of this competition.

  13. Prizes and souvenirs are granted by entry. If an entry is submitted by or on behalf of more than one person, such persons will share the prize or souvenir among them.

  14. We may, on notifying you, immediately suspend or terminate your rights if you breach these rules or if we reasonably believe that you have submitted an entry in violation of these rules.

  15. AkzoNobel reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend or cancel the competition at any time for any reason.

  16. AkzoNobel reserves the right to make changes to the rules at any time. You will be notified of such changes. The changed rules will apply to your entry, unless you withdraw your entry within one week of the date of notification of the change.

  17. Our only responsibilities with respect to the competition are set out in these rules. These rules prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials.

  19. If AkzoNobel improperly denies you any prizes, AkzoNobel's entire liability and your sole and exclusive remedy will be limited to a distribution of the equivalent amount of prizes as set forth above. By participating in the competition, you waive any and all rights to bring any claim or action related to such matters in any forum beyond one year after the first occurrence of the kind of act, event, condition or omission upon which the claim or action is based.

  20. AkzoNobel assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries. AkzoNobel is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by AkzoNobel on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof.
