International Paint is the world’s number-one supplier of protective coatings and passive fire protection for Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSOs) facilities, floating structures that store and process crude oil and natural gas from offshore wells. FPSOs are particularly suited to deep-water oil and gas fields in harsh weather environments, which provide a particular coatings challenge.

International has supplied coatings for more than 65 FPSOs across the world. One of its latest projects is the application of Intershield®300 epoxy primer to the Okha FPSO, built by SBM Offshore on behalf of Woodside Petroleum. In total around 200,000 m² of steel in the water ballast, crude oil tanks and external hull is protected using Intershield 300, a pure epoxy primer that has a track record of excellent in-service performance for more than 15 years.

International’s FPSO offerings include coatings for structural steel, fire and blast walls, vessels and supports, process piping and valves, and cryogenic protection. In addition to Intershield 300, other key products include Chartek® intumescent fire protection, Intertherm®751 CSA temperature-resistant coatings and Intersleek® foul-release coatings.
