Product Stewardship demands that the health, safety and environmental aspects of a new product are considered at the design stage, before the chemist decides which raw materials should go into a paint.

With our Product Stewardship initiative, a computer-based Global Raw Material Evaluation Programme (GRMEP) has been developed to allow laboratory chemists to evaluate the regulatory status and environmental/safety properties of all substances they are considering using in a new product.

The programme takes the chemist through a series of checks for each raw material to ensure that the final product contains substances that can be used safely with minimum impact on the environment.
