Flood Relief Campaign 2010

Bringing hope to flood victims across Pakistan

Pakistan Floods

The worst national disaster in our history has struck Pakistan, with over 20 million people affected, homes and belongings washed away, and crops and livelihoods destroyed.

Our response - Flood Relief Campaign 2010

At ICI Pakistan Limited we have been actively working to provide relief to those devastated by the flood across the country. The ICI Pakistan Foundation has pledged USD 200,000 for relief.

Our goal is to provide:

  • At least 1 million meals in the form of essential rations and food supplies

  •  Medical care to at least 10,000 people through our medical camps set up at locations across the country

The achievement of this target has been made possible through the incessant efforts of our Flood Relief Teams and Administration staff at all our sites.

Medical Camps
Fifteen medical camps have so far been held in the flood ravaged area near Multan in the province of Punjab. Each camp has catered to at least 500 patients on an average and we have so far covered over 7500 patients.

Veterinary Camps

Our Life Sciences Animal Health division has set up veterinary camps across the country in order to deal with the crucial health problems of affected livestock. Pakistan is a primarily agricultural country and millions of farmers' livelihoods depend on their livestock, so this is a critical area that needs our attention.

The goal was to provide treatment to 10,000 animals, however this target has been exceeded, and a total of 10,500 animals have been treated through 9 veterinary camps in flood affected areas. Our teams put in 312 man hours at these camps.

Employee efforts
'Care Pack' drive - Our staff has initiated a 'Care Pack' drive across the country to provide immediate sustenance items to families who have no means to prepare food and need urgent assistance to survive. These packs contain  immediate-use relief goods such as dates, biscuits, energy drinks and soap. So far, 10,000 Care Packs have been prepared in Karachi, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Khewra, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Hyderabad and Peshawar and are being distributed to affected families. These items were personally purchased, packed and delivered by our teams across Pakistan.

Visit to Thatta Relief Camp - Volunteers visited a relief camp set up and operated by the Pakistan Navy in Thatta, Sindh, and distributed 400 specially prepared packs to children on the occasion of Eid (the Muslim celebration following the holy month of Ramadan). These packs contained sweets, biscuits, juice, milk, coloring books, and pencil cases with crayons etc. Our volunteers also donated 5 water filtration devices to the camp.
