Kakapir Water pipeline project

Bringing water to communities

Since Karachi is a coastal city and we all enjoy its beaches, by extension, we feel a sense of responsibility towards the welfare of its coastal fishing communities. Our Life Sciences business formed an initiative to give something back to one of these communities; Kakapir Village near Hawksbay beach had suffered from the lack of clean running water for a long time. The previously installed water pipeline had fallen into a state of disrepair and residents were forced to walk long distances to carry water back to their homes.

To remedy this the Life Sciences Business stepped in with funding for a project to install a new, more durable pipeline. This pipeline was inaugurated in May 2009 and was met with great enthusiasm by community members of the Kakapir locality. They now have access to running water in their homes, their community school and mosque.
