Staff in Karachi celebrates Universal Children’s Day
At ICI Pakistan, we believe in giving back to our communities. We have set up an independent Foundation that runs many development programs for disaster relief and recovery, education, health and skill development. However, our contribution is not just limited to monetary assistance, our staff regularly contributes time volunteering for the community.
To celebrate the Universal Children’s Day 2011, our staff decided to bring smiles to the faces of children admitted for treatment in the city’s leading public hospital. Armed with brushes and mops, detergents and dusters, a group of twenty five volunteers decided to clean up the Pediatric Ward at the Civil Hospital Karachi.
Cleanliness and hygiene in public hospitals is a huge concern locally. The aim of the activity was to highlight the importance of hygiene amongst the children and families and to promote infection control via hand washing and cleaning up the wards. After transforming the ward, our bandwagon of good Samaritans entertained the children with stories and songs and also put together an interesting magic show for them.
