Taking ‘Weather Shielding’ to new heights!

Weather Shielding CSR

Reduce, reuse and recycle. For us, these are more than words. It is how we do our business. We recently discovered and executed how the panaflex skins used for communication material such as standees, banners and communication walls were recycled to make school bags for deserving children. This time, consequent to the Dulux Weather Shield Campaign, our Paints Business collected all the panaflex outdoor signage skins to be recycled and reused for community initiatives.

Following a request we received for assistance, a group of volunteers from the Head Office visited a small community in Sajawal, in the province of Sindh, to put these skins up to good use.

Sajawal is a low-lying town near Thatta in Sindh, subject to much rainfall. It was one of the worst affected areas of Sindh in the torrential monsoon and resulting floods which severely affected the country last year. People have rebuilt some of their homes however there are still smaller communities who live in makeshift houses.

The area our volunteers visited was a small Hindu community with over fifty people living in mud houses with makeshift mats for roofs. In the monsoon season, these houses are filled with water making them completely uninhabitable. With the help of the community, our team of volunteers put the Weather Shield Skins on the roofs and secured them to prevent leakages during rain. A total of ten houses were actually ‘Weather Shielded’ turning this monsoon into a source of relief rather than distress for the people of this community.
