Our range of slip additives and anti-blocking agents is one of the world’s largest, including super high concentrates. These products are added to the polymer during the extrusion process and migrate to the polymer surface. Acting as external lubricants they improve processing behavior and end-performance of polymers by reducing friction (slip effect) and adhesion forces (antiblock effect).
Solution to processing problems including slip-stick effect & blocking
The solid lubricating layer formed offers a solution to processing problems caused by the inherent friction and tackiness of polymers. Problems include slip-stick effect, sticking of film layers (blocking), mold contamination and excessive equipment wear. These problems often result in lower production output and problems with film and bag production and printing, wear of printed pictures and text, winding of films, packaging operations and mold release.
In elastomers, our slip agents and anti-blocking additives act as processing aid, thus improving the mixing, extrusion, and calendaring behavior of these compounds.
Armid and Armoslip fatty acid amides
Our high purity refined slip additives and anti-blocking agents are offered under the Armoslip® trademark. In certain geographical regions we also have available technical grades which are marketed as Armid®.
Our slip and antiblock additives are amides based on fatty acids derived from natural occurring feedstocks such as tallow, rapeseed, coconut oil and palm oil. These fatty acid amides provide the required chemical and thermal stability and melting range for excellent performance.
