Chemical Blowing Agents

AkzoNobel's Perkadox AIBN is the ideal chemical blowing agent for producing expanded elastomeric products.

Upon heating, Perkadox AIBN decomposes under the formation of nitrogen gas. It is this gas development, in combination with a simultaneous curing step, that provides the end product with a homogeneous sponge structure.

Perkadox AIBN is widely used in silicone rubber and other low viscous elastomeric compounds which find use in gaskets, insulating sheets, rollers and extruded profiles.
