The AkzoNobel Nordic Prize for Surface and Colloid Chemistry has been awarded since 1985 to outstanding young researchers in this field. The prize, up to 50 000 SEK is to be used for travelling scholarships or similar by the winner.

The 2011 Nordic Prize for surface and colloid chemistry has been awarded to Peter Jönsson, Chalmers University of Technology and Marité Cárdenas Gómez , University of Copenhagen for their excellent work and independent research in the area of surface and colloid chemistry.

Nordic Prize Symposium
The prize ceremony will take place in Stenungsund, Sweden on August 26, 2011. There will be a symposium in connection with the ceremony were the prize winner together with former prize winners have been invited to present either their current work or a popular overview of what they have done since they won the prize. There will also be a student poster session on display.

Prize critera
To be nominated one should have taken a doctor’s degree within the last 4 year period. When choosing the winner, both research work within the frame of dissertation and later research achievements is taken into consideration. The award winner should have documented independent research on a high international level within the area of surface and colloid chemistry.
