Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals GmbH & Co. KG is headquartered in Greiz, Germany. The company is part of Akzo Nobel's Functional Chemicals Sulfur Derivatives group.

The Greiz site has developed into a leading center for liquid polysulfide polymers in the past few decades. These polymers - which trade under the name THIOPLAST® and are key ingredients in the manufacture of rubber-like sealants - demonstrate excellent resistance to weathering, water, oils, fats, fuels, numerous chemicals and solvents.

THIOPLAST® is ideally suited for the production of sealing compounds and protective coatings for a variety of applications in the construction, aircraft and marine industries. Thioplast® sealants are mainly used in the manufacture of insulating glass.

Functional Chemicals has a quality and an environmental management system in place and has ISO 9001/14001 certification (English/German) and EMAS.
