Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals LLC is a Business Unit of AkzoNobel.  The sub Business Unit, Sulfur Derivatives, operates its LeMoyne facility in the city of Axis, just north of Mobile, Alabama, USA.  In 1996 the site became the first in the world to receive joint ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 registration, and has also been certified RC 14001 compliant.  Responsible Care continues to be a primary focus. 

The LeMoyne site produces high-quality inorganic sulfur-based chemicals, including carbon disulfide, sulfuric acid, sodium hydrosulfide (NaSH), and sulfuric chlorides.  These chemicals are used in a variety of industries, including specialty chemicals, agricultural chemicals, and pulp and paper, There is also a Crystex production unit at the site, along with a monochloroacetic acid dissolving unit.
