Integration in the value chain
Building on the foundations which we have been anchoring in our business operations, we continue to focus on incorporating a strong sustainability component throughout the entire value chain.
This starts with market research and continues right through to sales and marketing. By applying innovative chemistry, our R&D teams seek to develop solutions which deliver the performance required by customers while improving the eco-efficiency when it comes to product design, manufacture and ultimate disposal.
This would not be possible without a progressive sourcing and procurement policy in which we work in partnership with suppliers to ensure business integrity and help us to deliver sustainable value to our customers.
On the manufacturing side, we continue to optimize our manufacturing processes, thereby improving yields and energy efficiency. In sales and marketing, we also work closely with customers to develop long-term sustainable solutions. We use eco-efficiency as a measure of our products, in other words, that is greater value for lower environmental impact.
Currently, close to a fifth of our revenue comes from products which are more eco-efficient than rival products. By 2015, we aspire to increasing this figure to 30 percent of our revenue.
