Reaching out to help an elderly lady as she fainted during the Sant Adrià de Besòs Festival was just the start of Francisco Garrote’s involvement with the Arsis Foundation.
The organization, which is dedicated to supporting the socially-deprived, invited Francisco – who works for Decorative Coatings – to join them as a volunteer after witnessing his actions.
He began working with ‘outcast’ infants, but he soon noticed many of the other people Arsis helped had mobility problems. He also realized some of their pain could be helped through massage and physiotherapy support.
The Community Program helped out by providing the funds to repair and paint the walls, floor and ceiling of the Arsis premises in Badalona, and to carry out some other minor repairs.
The grant will also go towards buying equipment to enhance the physio treatments which are given, such as another portable bed and tension check, as well as ‘consumables’ including creams, oils, gloves and dressings.
