Materials Technology and Corrosion Prevention Seminar
23 October 2009
Materials of construction have a major influence on safety, integrity, availability and profitability in all industries from chemical process to transportation, power, construction, and pharmaceutical. However, materials are usually subject to deterioration or corrosion processes. Knowledge of how corrosion can be prevented or controlled is a starting point to achieve improvements in integrity asset management.
Therefore the Materials Technology department (AMC) of Technology & Engineering is organizing a seminar which will provide a basic knowledge of: properties of various construction materials, materials selection, recognition of corrosion failure modes, corrosion and degradation prevention methods, design aspects affecting corrosion, inspection techniques and risk based inspection. Emphasis is on practical application of this knowledge to enable participants make better decisions in less time.
