“At the moment we are very busy with the tests needed to classify, label and register new and existing chemicals under the European REACH legislation, among other assignments. I've done research, worked in microbiological safety and hygiene labs in the UK and received management training in customer service, but this is the first job I’ve had where I’m truly happy to get up each morning and go to work. There’s a relaxed working atmosphere, good colleagues, lots of variation, and plenty of opportunities to make your mark. I set annual goals, together with my manager, and we review progress every six months, but it's up to me to work out how to achieve them. In my free time I play electric guitar in a band and tinker with cars. It's been a steep learning curve, but I would say that the degree of challenge and the work/leisure balance are about right.”
