Just as our Center of Expertise for Eco-efficiency provides advice on sustainable products and processes, our Global Environmental Affairs Group plays a key role in tackling strategic compliance issues and risks related to environmental liabilities at current AkzoNobel sites and those arising from historical operations. With extensive experience in the investigation, risk assessment and remediation of contaminated land, we deliver risk-based solutions for environmental liabilities. We also evaluate environmental due-diligence risks in AkzoNobel mergers & acquisitions as well as in decommissioning, shutdown and sales of sites.

The group aims to reduce AkzoNobel’s exposure to environmental liabilities and work toward positive outcomes for soil and groundwater issues that safeguard the company’s reputation and minimize future risks at optimal cost. We advise on strategy and standards, benchmark good practice, and on the use of external specialist consultants.

The licensed environmental professionals in the Environmental Affairs Group have extensive technical and regulatory skills. The services they provide include technical/regulatory consultation, permitting, auditing, due diligence, waste minimization evaluation, environmental impact studies, environmental modeling and risk assessment, site investigation and remediation, and development of the environmental management systems ISO 9000 and 14000.
