Product & Process Safety: dust explosion test methods

2-3-600w

What was at stake?
We were asked by the Business Units Functional Chemicals, Powder Coatings, and Polymer Chemicals to determine the combustion and explosion behavior of solid materials with a fine particle size (e.g. powders and dust) in order to protect installations against the danger of dust explosions.

What we did
We obtained the dust explosion parameters in a cost-effective and timely way and provided advice on dust explosion prevention measures (e.g. venting and inertization).

Added value
We have profound knowledge of dust explosion prevention as well as flammability, explosiveness, self-reactivity and the self-heating properties of solids. Our labs house specialized equipment for determining dust explosion parameters (Kst, Pmax, MIE, LEL, MOC, MIT, etc.). We are experts in ATEX-137 (the European standard) and equivalent standards worldwide ( Americas, Asia).
