What was at stake?
AkzoNobel Chelates at Herkenbosch in the Netherlands needed a Continuous Improvement program, including Six Sigma projects that would cover their complete supply chain.

What we did
We brought in experienced Six Sigma trainer-coaches and coached the staff in carrying out numerous successful projects, for example improving the quality of Ferrazone by using the Six Sigma method to reduce the occurrence of scaling.

Six Sigma is a rigorous and disciplined methodology that uses data and statistical analysis to measure and improve a company's operational performance by identifying and eliminating ”defects’" (weaknesses) in manufacturing and service-related processes. Commonly defined as 3.4 defects per million opportunities, Six Sigma can be understood at three levels: metric, methodological and philosophical. Added value
The Return on Investment was at least 10-fold, with significant financial savings year on year. Recently we’ve been asked to provide additional Six Sigma support. Many of those trained have since moved on to take up new jobs within AkzoNobel, leading to wider benefits.

Facts & Figures
About 15 people have been trained in the Six Sigma methodology. Projects they have run have yielded substantial savings.
