Chelsea (NZ) and Brendan (UK) win AkzoNobel F1™ Facebook contest
11 November 2011
AkzoNobel, corporate partner of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team, today announced that Chelsea Beckman (New Zealand) and Brendan Rorrison (United Kingdom) have won the AkzoNobel Formula 1™ traineeship, including a trip to the Formula 1™ season finale in São Paulo, Brazil.
The trainees will be responsible for inspecting the quality of the paint on the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes’ race car during the race weekend. They will also have access to the pit and receive a VIP tour of the race cars.
The AkzoNobel Formula 1™ Facebook competition received close to 18,000 ‘likes’ and more than 1,300 applications, many of them via video, from race enthusiasts all over the world. These entries were then narrowed down to five finalists, with selection criteria focusing on passion for the sport, as well as knowledge about AkzoNobel and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. The jury interviewed the finalists and carefully considered their entries before selecting Chelsea and Brendan as this year’s trainees.
The race will take place at the Interlagos racetrack in São Paulo, Brazil, the weekend of November 25-27.
