Wood floor coating innovations use Akzo Nobel-Nanoparticles

AkzoNobel chemists are using these amazing microstructures to solve some of the most challenging physical property issues in the wood coatings industry, including:

  • Increasing surface scratch resistance 

  • Increasing clarity of undercoats without using oxides

  • Excellent scratch resistance by steel wool, no tarnishing or scratches after 25 cycles wool

  • Excellent rub resistance, loss only about 60mg every 100 cycles by #180 grit paper China Standard

  • Significantly increasing the hardness of film

UV coatings for resilient, PVC/vinyl flooring

  • Product mix - Photoglaze- all 100% solids UV curable urethanes, Chemglaze-2K solvent base material-used to connect and hide seams in sheet vinyl, waterborne products

  • Scratch resistance coatings-best possible abrasion and scratch resistance while maintaining flexibility

  • Low slip coatings- reaching minimum R9, preferred R10-R11 ramp slip with a smooth of textured coating

  • Conductive coatings- a clear, permanently conductive, humidity independent coating

  • Reduced VOC coatings-eliminate the volatile emission from the coating and create a barrier coating that reduces   the emission from the substrate.
