Making the workplace a safer place
Our employees are our greatest assets, so preventing work-related injuries and illnesses is paramount to the success of our business. We have developed a comprehensive health and safety program based on years of study, analysis and employee input. This has resulted in a significant downward trend of both safety- and health-related incidents during the last five years.
The key to our program is working closely with employees as a team. We empower them to identity unsafe or unhealthy situations and take immediate action to stop the unsafe behavior. This behavior-based approach has helped reduce our accident frequency rates to a level comparable with industry leaders and Fortune 500 companies.
Each of our manufacturing operations customizes our health and safety program to suit their local situation. This includes training, observations and feedback to implement process improvements that will result in fewer employee injuries and illnesses.
We carefully scrutinize the reported health and safety data of individual plants to ensure the figures are meaningful. Every plant undergoes a comprehensive safety audit every five years, or more frequently for problematic sites. During the audits, problem areas are identified and action plans are developed to fix them.
At the end of the day, employees should go home in the same condition as they arrived. The only acceptable employee injury frequency rate is zero.
