Easy clean ice release preventing the build up of ice on structures and surfaces

  • The build-up of ice on structures operating in winter and/or arctic conditions can be problematic as it can present a health and safety hazard and negatively impact operational effectiveness
  • The traditional approach is to periodically manually remove ice build-up using hand tools (like baseball bats and hammers for example)
  • There is a need for technologies which can either prevent ice build-up on structures or facilitate removal
  • Ideally the solution would be a coatings based technology, and a route to modifying existing coatings to produce the desirable effect would be very attractive
  • We are very interested in additives which could provide an easy-clean/ice-release effect
