Akzo Nobel Service GmbH in Cologne is looking for you as a
Communications Manager (m/f)  External Relations DACH
Key Objectives:
- Protect and enhance the AkzoNobel brand through campaigns which promote the company’s overall reputation drivers (innovation, sustainability and Human Cities)
- Design and execute external communication plans across owned and earned channels that drive AkzoNobel's reputation with key stakeholders
- Be the main contact and spokesperson for trade, regional and local media
- Work closely with the Head of Corporate Communications (DACH), the Global Media Relations and Public Affairs teams as well as PR agencies
- Be responsible for crisis communications and issue management together with the Head of Corporate Communications
- Be responsible for the German website of AkzoNobel
- Manage the news planning grid and ensure a consistent flow of positive news across all platforms including news jacking
- Maintain DACH register of relevant public affairs and policy issues, policy positions and spokespeople
- Monitor and report progress against agreed external communications

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- University degree in communications/PR or journalism, with exceptional writing and presentation skills
- A strong and established network of general and specialized media and other key opinion former
- Experience working in an international matrix organization are desirable
- 5-7 years’ experience with media relations, social media and public affairs
- Experience with complex communication issues crisis communications and spokesmanship
- Understanding of market trends and the ability to translate these into communications opportunities
- Track record of implementing national external communications campaigns including digital output
- Team player with an open and energetic style, able to shift between tasks and responsibilities, capable of working independently when necessary
