The BA Decorative Paints Communications Manager, Internal Engagement
 
is part of AkzoNobel’s Global Communication function and responsible for defining and executing Business Area specific internal communicaton/engagement plans, as well as supporting AkzoNobel’s global internal communications/engagement strategy to increase the internal engagement of AkzoNobel’s employees.
Be a member of the Internal Engagement team based in Amsterdam and provide Internal Communications/Engagement support to the Performance Coatings Business Area to further increase the engagement of the AkzoNobel employees in the division. This role includes contributing to and implementing the global internal communications strategy and developing plans to support Business Area specific communication objectives. Oversees and manages change communications in the Business Area Decorative Paints; provides counsel and coaching on internal communications related topics to the leadership team.
 
You are a proven internal communications advisor with extensive experience in change communications. Strong ability to understand business priorities and translate strategy into communications plans. Acts as a trusted advisor and builds strong relationships at highest senior levels. You can prioritize, plan and co-ordinate multiple business demands and manage the expectations of your stakeholders effectively. An experienced and hands-on communication advisor who will focus on a core set of deliverables and metrics and who feels comfortable to coach and advise senior leaders to increase engagement.  
 
Key Objectives and   Accountabilities
- Responsible for designing and implementing Company and Business Area specific communication plans that drive AkzoNobel’s internal engagement and help to transform AkzoNobel employees into true ambassadors of the brand, the purpose and the strategy, using the overall reputation drivers (innovation, sustainability and Human Cities)
- Provides communication advice and counsel to the Decorative Paints leadership team in all internal and change communication related matters with a focus on enabling the leadership team to engage AkzoNobel’s employees in the company strategy and purpose.    
- Ensures consistency of all communication materials and key messages delivered in the Business Area Decorative Paints   
- Acts as role model when it comes to living the company values and core principles, acts as brand ambassador and actively promotes the company strategy and purpose
- Develops relevant key messages and provides coaching/training to the members of the Decorative Paints leadership team
- Oversees and manages all change related communications in the Business Area Decorative Paints to ensure quality and consistency in key message delivery 
- Builds a strong network within the company and engages with internal stakeholders from the businesses, HR, Finance, Marketing, RD&I and Operations to drive storytelling and campaigns that support the deployment of the AkzoNobel strategy and drive engagement
- Follows and implements trends and best practices in internal communications, engagement and change communications

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Requirements for Job (education or experience required to be able to perform this job):
- University degree in communications with exceptional writing and presentation skills
- Experience working in an international matrix organization and comfortable with building relationships at highest senior levels
- 10-13 years’ experience in internal communications and change communications with a strong business acumen    
- Experience with highly complex communication issues and project management, strong ability to prioritize
- Understanding of strategy and business priorities and the ability to translate these into internal engagement / communication plans
- Proven ability to advise and coach senior leaders in all internal communication/engagement related maters
- Track record in implementing change communication and internal engagement plans and deliver against metrics 
- Team player with an open and energetic attitude, easy to shift between strategy and execution, who can work independently, performs well under pressure and can handle multiple demands from his/her stakeholders.
