Responsibility

Install and maintain machinery, fixtures, and utilities.  Maintain and repair building electrical systems.  Plans and lays out work from, drawings, other written specifications and/or oral instructions. Selects materials, equipment, and tools to be used. Uses hand and/or portable power tools. Sets up and uses appropriate standard and specialized measuring and testing instruments.
 
- Performs preventive maintenance and regular maintenance of plant.
- Work with electrical systems up to 5,000 VAC.
- Maintains records of maintenance, and repair activities, to include maintaining current as-built drawings.
- Follows established safety and environmental policies and procedures, and promotes continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance in the workplace.
- Uses and promotes the use of a computerized maintenance management system.
- Reads, interprets, utilizes, and updates schematics, blueprints.
- Maintains equipment and performs related duties to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant.
- Prepares reports and records on inspection, testing, and repair activities.
- May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, performing related work.
- Supports and assists contract electricians in the performance of their duties.
- Maintains an inventory of repair parts and supplies, ordering materials as needed; ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes workplace safety.
- Isolates defects in motors, wiring, switches and other electrical equipment and replaces when necessary.
- Measures, cuts, threads, and installs threaded conduit and fittings.
- Pulls wire through conduit.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Follows established safety and environmental policies and procedures, and promotes continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance in the workplace. 
- Participates in development and uses a computerized maintenance management system.
- Maintains and repairs utility systems such as heating and/or air conditioning equipment, boiler plant equipment compressed air system chillers city and plant water equipment.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- High School diploma or GED required.  
- Journeyman electrician license preferred.
- Ability to apply NEC standards.
- At least Five (5) years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. 
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and systems.
- Trouble shooting experience with instrumentation and control systems preferred.
- Ability to maintain current and accurate records of work performed.
- Ability to operate a variety of electrical and electronic test equipment.
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management principles as related to supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and blueprints.
- Ability to work in elevated locations up to 75 feet.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines.
- Knowledge of designing, using, and repairing machines and tools.
- Knowledge of constructing buildings and other structures. 
- Knowledge of the features and rules of matter and energy. Areas of knowledge include air, water, light, heat, weather, and other natural events.
- Knowledge of protecting people, data, and property.
- Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to electrical repair and maintenance work.
