Our Specialty Coatings manufacturing site in Lancaster, SC has an outstanding opportunity for a passionate professional to assume the role of Site Engineer.
 
This position has overall responsibility for site maintenance and engineering activities, to include all preventative maintenance, design and installation of new equipment,  continuous process improvement efforts, and execution of capital projects. It will report directly to the Site Director and it has 7 direct reports including: 1 Maintenance Lead; 5 Maintenance Craftsman and 1 Electronics Engineer. 
 
- Prepare for and coordinate installation of equipment/machinery modifications.
- Prepare and coordinate installation of capital equipment.
- Manage energy conservation program.
- Control the activities of outside service vendors.
- Monitor capital budget system.
- Enforce contractor compliance with standard practices and insurance requirements.
- Ensure that the day-to-day operations of the department and the machines are consistent with the Quality standards and system.

Key Accountabilities:
- Champion and actively support and participate in BBS and Near Miss Reporting
- Actively participate in meeting Annual Site Safety improvement plans
- Identify common health, safety, environmental, and security issues across site and work with others on corrective actions
- Participate in company safety networks.
- Advocate AkzoNobel’s HSE&S programs
- Drive HSES&S actions and, culture across site, teams and entire organization
- Actively participate in site training and insure all direct reports attend necessary training
- Proactive in actions that promote HSES&S culture
- At least once per year, take part in a training session related to hazardous waste management at AkzoNobel
 
Interface with insurance carriers for loss prevention and compliance with all:
- Fire
- Electrical
- Building
- OSHA
- EPA codes and regulations

Advise Product Development, Marketing, and Manufacturing of:
- Fire
- Electrical
- Building code requirements

Prime resource for:
- Product Development
- Marketing
- Manufacturing for coating technology
- ACAD system
- Calibration system setup and operation for ISO

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Required:
- B.S Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering

- At least 5 years with Maintenance and/or Engineering in a manufacturing facility

- At least 5 years of prior project engineering in a manufacturing facility.

- At least 2 years of people management experience

- Working knowledge of equipment design and specifications (electrical and mechanical)

- Experience managing cap-ex projects

- Budget management, facilities management, and contractor management experience

 
Preferred:
- Expertise with a computerized maintenance management system

- Title V Compliance

- Knowledge of web handling, moving film
