AkzoNobel Performance Coatings has an outstanding opportunity for a Global Segment Manager in our Metal Coatings - Non Metal Packaging division.


This position is based out of our Strongsville, OH office. 

Key Objectives of the Job:
Contributes to the execution of sales - and profitability targets established by the SMU by implementing strategic go-to-market models and translating strategy into initiatives formulating Segment Marketing Plans delivering on SMU strategy by defining requirements for overall brand image and awareness.

Responsibilities:

• Formulates the Segment Marketing Plan and ensures its execution.
• Translates SMU vision, policies, services package, training plans, market research and customer specifications to segment.
• Acts as key interface to RD&I and color marketing for product development and product life cycle analysis.
• Provides leadership and guidance in implementation and execution of segment strategy.
• As an owner of the global product portfolio ensures the implementation of the innovation process (incl. the project portfolio) for the segment.
• Works closely together with Regional Marketing Managers (and Regional Sales Manager Segment) to ensure translation of segment strategy into operational action planning.
• Stimulates benchmarking and internal best practice sharing in the marketing community.
• Gets in depth understanding of needs within segment through market research and implements needs based segmentation model.
• Translates needs into clear value propositions and develops these propositions in close cooperation with SMU Marketing organization.
• Validates propositions by means of business cases/portfolio
• Maintains close contact with sales organizations to ensure market input is gathered (outside-in) and translated into fitting propositions.
• Analyzes segment results, benchmarking results, market research and general market developments.
• Provides input on pricing strategy guidelines on brands/ products to Commercial Excellence Manager.

Management of Product lifecycle
• Key stakeholder in product maintenance and cost engineering programs in cooperation with the segment Manager and related product managers
• Validates propositions by means of business cases.
• Owns the customer warranty process
• Key contacts to key industry specifiers which headquarters is in the region

Product Margin management
• Input to pricing architecture, works with marketing to develop pricing frameworks for the region and executes regional tactical pricing with regard to competitive landscape.
• Owns the deployment of the regional Product Margin management process across the region

Integrated Business planning(IBP)
• Represents the Marketing function within the regional integrated business planning process cycle
• Uses demand forecasting information for product and contingency planning

• Defines requirements for overall Brand image and awareness including communication materials and ensures successful delivery in cooperation with functional marketing departments.
• Develop the brand communication plan with the Marketing Specialist.
• Be familiar with all the applicable corporate as well as site policies/procedures with regard to personal conduct and HSE standards and acting in compliance with all applicable regulations
Others
• Develops, executes and monitors key performance indicators
• Stimulates benchmarking and internal best practice sharing in the marketing community.
• Acts as senior Marketing Leader
• Tools: AN Performance tracker (Wave) for the regional MC Mandates is updated ; Metal Coatings Dashboard input and consolidation for the region ; Innovation StageGate, CRM
• Capable of analyzing complex set of data
• Define and drive action plans across the region with the regional marketing team and the commercial teams
• Reports on progress on a continuous base.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, chemistry or related field. Master’s degree or MBA is a plus but not required
Minimum 10 years strategic product management experience with at least 5 years in a Global Product Portfolio Management role required
• Solid experience in B to B Marketing especially in Product portfolio management
• Prior work experience in the chemical, coatings, paper or packaging industry is preferred
• Excellent project management experience
• Prior experience working for a global company and/or in a global project or product management role
• Strong analytical skills, proficient in Excel and Powerpoint and working with and understanding analytical tools
• Experience of working in multi-disciplinary programs and teams, end-to-end from through to implementation and delivering results

• Good communication skills; verbal and written.
• Willingness and interest to travel; approximately 25% of the time
