AkzoNobel Metal Coatings –has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Buyer. This position will be responsible for Plant Sourcing and Procurement of bulk and packaged raw materials in service of our Metal Coatings manufacturing facility in Columbus, OH. This position will manage all assigned materials activity in relation to production planning and ensure availability for the Master Production Plan in-line with the MRP parameters and supplier contracts. In addition, will provide procurement support and coverage on local spend categories, ensuring competitive cost sourcing of quality goods and services consistent with company goals and objectives.
Specific Tasks:
- Manage the day-to-day business relationship with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/ volume/ delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end-user feedback, follow up on backorders, etc.
- Follow up continuously on open PO’s, expedite PO’s within the lead-times, maintain open POs in SAP, ensure correct expected delivery dates
- Monitors raw materials forecasts and usage of materials by working with demand planning and plant personnel when needed. Acts as liaison with suppliers in case of difficult supply situations or when the supply is interrupted
- Working with stakeholders and suppliers to identify opportunities to enhance plant operations and improve competitive cost position
- Will educate, train and influence stakeholders, suppliers and co-workers on Procurement Best Practice
- Develop a strong understanding and knowledge of Plant and company suppliers and capabilities
- Implement and enforce polices that increase spend visibility and compliance
- Accurate and timely processing of all purchase orders according to AkzoNobel’s standard process
- Apply Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) best practices to manage supplier relationships to ensure continuity of goods and services that meet the quality, service and price performance standards of the company
- Identifying, prioritizing and impacting key business opportunities
- Works with other members of the Operations Leadership team to develop and implement Procure-to-Pay initiatives that reduce transaction cost and consolidate volume
- Contribute to company cost savings goals through process efficiency
- Evaluate market conditions and develop strategic sourcing strategies to improve costs, reduce risk and ensure sustainable supply security
- Work with Management to report and monitor process compliance
- Collaborate and communicate effectively across different organizational levels, functions, businesses, and geographies to realize procurement goals and objectives

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferred in Chemistry, Supply Chain Management or Business related field
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
- Purchasing experience with chemicals (Latex and Monomers, Chemicals and Intermediates, Additives, Solvent, Resins and Precursors.) a plus
- Ability to manage entire Procure-to-Pay process
- Strong interpersonal skills; Able to forge internal customer and external supplier relationships
- Strong team leadership skills with the ability to form and lead cross-functional teams to achieve desired goals
- Ability to comply with existing/quickly adapt to new processes within the organization
- Service and results oriented
- Experience in SAP or other major ERP system a plus
- CPSM or C.P.M. certification a plus
- Experience with SRM eProcurement system
- Project Management experience
