Purpose/Key Objective
Responsible for driving continuous improvement of shift performance in terms of Quality, Cost, Delivery, HSE&S and people development to deliver demand at the lowest imaginable cost and highest degree of engagement. To be the guardian of the cultural principles on the shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty safely, satisfactorily, and in a timely manner.

• Develops a passion for HSE&S, Sustainability and Quality in the shift team and reviews performance - setting targets for continuous improvement.
• Ensures delivery and establishes evidence of achievements for all key performance indicators using short interval control processes (Leaders Standard Work) and application of the AkzoNobel way.
• In coordination with warehouse manager gives input on manpower planning, delivery,quality, continuous improvement activities for their shift within the required timescales, working across departments to optimise plant asset usage and then communicates accordingly.
• Allocates and monitor the progress and quality of work within his/her area of responsibility.
• In coordination with warehouse manager gives input on individual performance and development of skills - challenging the shift team to deliver results and continuously stretch goals.
• Ensures a culture of learning and growing - providing regular opportunities for role rotation and community work.
• Understands output and customer needs and ensures operations are set up to continue delivering leading levels of service at the lowest imaginable cost.
• Drives a lean continuous improvement culture across shift team, establishing and transferring best practice and knowledge across the other shift teams.
• Responsible for all incidents on site during the shift – ensuring that company policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Supports team leaders and in coordination with warehouse manager partners in developing employees and gives input on performance and conduct issues where required.
• Manages his/her professional development by setting targets and planning how they will be met.
• Responsible to perform other task as directed by Warehouse Manager.

General Knowledge and Awareness:
• Good understanding of Logistics and Shipping process.
• Good level of knowledge of the business and where the Supply Chain and High Point site fits as part of the strategy and be able to communicate this throughout the department.

• Ability to interact effectively with Customers, Community, all High Point operations and other AkzoNobel visitors on a regular basis.
• Ability to use coaching and performance management techniques to develop the team and drive performance

Technical Competence:
• Develop and monitor processes and procedures for his/her area of responsibility.

• Lead by example and ensure team follows agreed and documented standard operating procedures to ensure world class safety and quality are maintained at all times e.g point of work risk assessments and incident reporting
• Coach team so they are competent in writing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) based on risk assessment of the task or activity
• Provide proactive response to any near miss reported
• Audit teams working behaviours frequently and correct or report any failings and deficiencies in HSE&S, quality and sustainability procedures or processes
• Provide feedback and recognition to positive HSE&S and Sustainability behaviours demonstrated by the team
• Actively participate in HSE&S, quality and sustainability risk reduction programs
• Be respectful towards the community inside and outside the site gates at all times
• Recognise HSE&S, quality and sustainability accountability in the P&D Dialogue process
• Act in accordance with the AkzoNobel Code of Conduct.

Continuous Improvement:
• Develop processes within job holders area of responsibility to align with relevant continuious improvement directives
• Coach and develop organizational capability in continuous improvement methodology in all areas of operation
• Thoroughly understand area of operation to enable individual to coach, teach and develop team.
• Lead, develop and review process confirmation activities to ensure compliance to operational standards
• Understand and apply continuous improvement principles to reduce and control loss & waste
• Actively participate and provide detail to allow production of Standard Operating Procedure documentation
• Demonstrate understanding and application of 5S in the workplace
