Color development is a key role in achieving market leadership within Aerospace coatings. A complex process is needed to deliver the quality the customer needs within set time limits and within budget. The Local Color Specialist ensures this process runs smoothly and delivers the desired results. As the link between all parties, both internal and external, this is a vital role in translating customer needs into a clear requests ensuring AkzoNobel delivers.

Key Objectives/Principal Accountabilities

• Manage the day to day color activities to supply new colors to the Aerospace Market EMEA. First contact for aerospace customers (internal and external) regarding new colors and technical color support.
• Manage color development requests from cradle to grave for EMEA. Including Back office work for the color development process.
• Maintains all relevant color information in database (Colorapps). Ensures up-to-date physical (and digital) panel file, including standards (of variants) and spray-outs. Registers new colors in Panel tracking system (Q track) and maintains the information with respect to crossovers. Ensures the panel presence to be in line with information regarding various locations in SC. Gives feedback to the supervisor when information is processed, missing, insufficient, etc.
• Formula Requests /Uploading: Input of the requests/uploading of formulas through Colorapps for completed/developed colors after pre-screening and development by color team. Also updating the relevant information in database.
• Responsibility includes all project details as well as independently interfacing with internal and external customers to achieve the project objectives. Provides technical support as requested to ensure successful completion of project objectives.
• Improvement proposal: Suggests improvements on the Color Process, procedures, working methods, etc.
• Quality: Gives feed-back to the countries/regions/global organization when information is processed, missing or insufficient. Assist with training of personnel with new functions.
• Maintains detailed and organized data; Provides reports, project summaries for review by the management team for internal and external customers.
• Promotes the current quality system through adhering to the elements and ensuring that all group members are thoroughly familiar with and adhere to the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and are competent in the appropriate procedures. This position also has the responsibility and authority to prevent the occurrence of product nonconformity.
• Proactively supports all activities to ensure that a safe environment and professional laboratory appearance is maintained. Manages safety and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

• Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a technical field
• At least 2-5 year’s experience in a client facing role requiring daily contact with customers
• Must have excellent communication and analytical skills, should display good process and customer orientation in addressing problems/issues.
• Color aptitude >70 required.
• Proactive, quick learner, self-motivated, passionate to learn & deliver results on time.
• Work Break down structure (WBS) with time management.
• Keen eye for detail, problem solving & root cause analysis approach.
• Team player with very good team rapport & inter-personal skills.
• Results oriented with excellent drive & commitment to accomplish.
• Excel in multi-tasking, flexi-orientation & the ability to work under pressure.
• Integration capability in an international/multi-cultural environment, remote team, rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working.
• Candidate must be able to work in a manufacturing & laboratory environment and capable of wearing an air purifying respirator. To wear a respirator per OSHA regulations, candidate must pass medical evaluation and fit testing to qualify as a respirator user.
• Knowledge of colorimetry, paint products and statistical methods preferred.
• Knowledge in color process: policies/procedures and methods desirable.
