Manage new product  initiatives and successfully launch in the market for a leading global organization

AkzoNobel’s business area Decorative Paints adds color to people’s lives with a full range of interior and exterior decoration and protection products for the trade and consumer markets. As authorities on color we aim to provide all our customers – from professional decorators to DIY enthusiasts – with a great color experience and a fantastic finish. Our range includes paints, lacquers and varnishes as well as products for surface preparation (pre-deco products).
The success of our brands is based substantially on an extensive and efficient Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) that enables new products to be introduced  in the market on a regular basis.

Within this context, your mission in this role is to manage and coordinate all supply chain activities relating to the successfull launch of new product ranges across Europe and Africa (E&A). In doing so you are responsible to manage a portfolio of projects. ,manage the process from  feasibility  to launch of a new product.  You will work with the various functions  (Planning, sites, PDC, etc) and work closely with local marketing representing supply chain.

NPI (New Product Introduction) Lead

The role and its responsibilities
The position is based at Sassenheim, the Netherlands, You work closely with colleagues in the Netherlands various countries and sites across the region.
As NPI Lead you perform a pre-feasibility study for the new product introduction in order to gain a full understanding of the project, assessing risks and reviewing and addressing potential thresholds, standards and constraints.
You then plan, manage and coordinate the supply chain related activities, working with Marketing, the Product Development Center and Supply Chain to ensure the timely launch of the product whilst also phasing out delisted products.
At all times you ensure that standard processes related to life cycle management are deployed at production sites. You also keep track of all product related projects assigned to the sites, working with planning to ensure that raw material, packaging and production is managed in relation to the life stage of the product. Further, you identify risks as they arise, and develop contingencies.
In addition you ensure that projected demand for future product launches is loaded into planning systems and linked to material requirements plans. You also schedule and agree line trials and you are the process owner concerning transfers.
At the later stages of the introduction you are responsible for the Stage Gate and pre-Gate check completion. You are then involved in post-launch evaluation.
At all times you work closely with Marketing, supporting and educating local Marketing in the Stage Gate process and related activities.

Candidate profile
To apply for this position you must possess the following attributes:
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree, preferably in Business or Supply Chain and at least five years’ experience of the NPI Stage Gate process, Life Cycle Management and/or Change management, preferably in an FMCG environment;
• Experience of managing multiple projects and an understanding of PRINCE2 principles and Sales & Operations Planning/IBP;
• Ideally you have knowledge of SAP knowledge or another ERP system;
• Able to resolve conflicts while being sensitive to different cultural behaviors;
• Willing and able to undertake regular international travel;
• Strong communication skills including fluent written and spoken English.
