• Strategy/Year Plan and Budget Spend Area
• Develops sourcing strategies for own categories based on business/function/Country strategy, analyzes existing strategies and propose improvements in close cooperation with relevant project manager, BU’s and/or functions/Country
• Sub Spend Area/ Category Strategy and Budget
• Formulate Sub Spend Area/ Category Strategy and Budget in line with assortment and business requirements
• Alternatives for Procurement/ Market Know How; Actively ensure collection and analyzing of key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas for innovation, alternative suppliers and processes within the given region/categories. Strive for the highest level of expertise within the category
Requirements NPR
• Formulates requirements and specifications for own category within NPR and delivers input into the global categories
• Advising BU/Functional Management
• Provide regular price updates and deliberate with relevant stakeholders on strategies, priorities and issues.
• Advise budget holders and experts in the selection process of suppliers and products/services.
• Initiate and guide implementation of synergy, cost savings, processes, innovation and risk reduction programs jointly with Business Units, country organizations and functions
• Guide the implementation of cross country/BU/BA contracts with a clear project planning. Install (and supports) systems internally or externally to enable measurements of results (savings, baseline, compliance, KPI’s)
Supplier Selection
• Ensure professional sourcing and negotiation process with relevant stakeholders involved (cross functional teams).
• Manage supplier selection within Strategic Sourcing methodology (SSM) processes
• Analyze all supplier recommended price changes and negotiate and implement and commercially manage supply agreements and contracts, inform relevant parties, propose alternatives and propose and implement procedures
• Vendors and Suppliers Relationship
• Maintains relationships with (alternative) vendors and contractors and ensure performance
• Information Management; Optimize and provide information recurrently/on ongoing bases on purchased goods and provide input on indexes and forecasts
• Continues contact with relevant stakeholders including country management and networks for the category (including attending relevant meetings)
• Communicate on a regular basis with key stakeholders in the Functions and Businesses as a spend area expert and contributor to their business strategies in a professional and collaborative manner.
• Prompt and thorough communication with suppliers to ensure proper messaging and professionalism required representing AkzoNobel.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

• Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline or business administration or comparable work and thinking level
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience
• Self starter, who can operate in a broad spend category
• Analytical strong, to execute spend analysis, analyze cost drivers and support harmonization of specifications
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Result orientated
• Team builder who can include different functions and different levels of seniority (both internal and external).
• Initiate and sells ideas, concepts and programs to suppliers and up and down the relevant organizations
• Ability to work under minimal supervision with broad direction.
• Ability to drive and steer multiple projects in a larger region
• Ability to manage conflicting business interests, understand and be able to establish common ground in organizational (including cross BU) barriers
• Ability to perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation
• Experienced procurement professional, preferable with a background in Maintenance or Engineering
• Purchasing excellence, strategic sourcing
• Experience with e-sourcing and SRM
• Expertise and knowledge of markets and dynamics
• Preferred experience in the coatings and/or chemical industry
• Ability to assess underlying financial results of a specific course of action
