AkzoNobel is currently searching for a Sr. Project Engineer for our Salisbury, NC facility (relocation assistance available for the right candidate). The primary function of this role will be to manage Capital Projects – Identify projects, prepare cost estimates and ARs, manage project implementations (i.e. construction, contractors, specify equipment, procurement, start-up etc.) Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Process Engineering – Supporting process engineering changes needed through identified process improvement analysis from the Process Technical team.
• Process improvements – Identify and implement improvements using Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma techniques when needed.
• Mechanical Integrity Program – maintain plant drawings (P&ID’s, ISO’s, PFD’s), equipment safety information and specifications, testing and inspection plans, engineering standards, etc.
• Standard Operating Procedures - Develop new and revise existing operating procedures and train operators.
• Process Hazard Analysis - perform and Lead PHAs on new and existing processes SAP – work order notifications, purchase requisitions, capital project accounting.
• Process Automation – maintain and troubleshoot DeltaV DCS control systems (i.e., develop control schemes, add new instrumentation, make changes to existing systems as needed).
• Management of Change – Perform design reviews, pre start-up safety reviews, and initiate MOC’s as needed.
• Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams – Ensure P&IDs are correct and are updated through the MOC process.
• Support plant safety goals through active participation in site Safety Action Committee and Behavior Based Safety Process.
• Participate in HSES activities directed by management/supervision or as indicated in the HSES Annual Site Plan.
• Team members should operate under any applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Job requirements/Candidate profile

·    Bachelor of Science, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry required
·      5 years minimum experience in chemical plant process/ chemical manufacturing
·      2-3 year minimum experience in a project engineering/ project management role.
·      Capital Project management experience required.
·      Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; SAP a plus.
·      DCS programming, troubleshooting Process Hazards Analysis a plus.
·      Six Sigma green belt certification a plus.
