AkzoNobel is a leading global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals, with leading market positions and brands in countries around the world. We operate in a number of important market segments ranging from buildings and infrastructure to transport, industrial and consumer goods. We’re also the sector leader in sustainability and are number one in the renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index. In practical terms, that means our sustainable solutions are in your lives, and those of your friends and family, every day. We’re the people that make it possible for you to do what you need to do.

Help an expert and proactive global team in SAP security to deliver the highest levels of solution architecture

AkzoNobel creates everyday essentials to make people’s lives more liveable and inspiring. We are a leading global producer of paints, coatings and specialty chemicals, supplying essential ingredients, essential protection and essential color to industries and consumers worldwide.

Central to our success is an outstanding global IM capability that incorporates a dedicated Identity and Access Management (I&AM) function. I&AM comprises 25 people worldwide and is built on close cooperation and communication between two Solution Architects, two Application Managers, and 20 Application Analysts.

Within this context, your mission in this role is to support demand management by writing project charters and translating them into detailed requirements for shared solutions and architectures within roadmaps.

In particular you focus on the streamlining of procedures 'above' our global business units. Security is inevitably another key focus for I&AM and, ideally, you have experience in this area.

Is this a challenge that matches your skills and ambitions? Are you a proactive and analytical ‘do-er’ and conceptual thinker who can work independently on time-sequential projects? Do you have a broad knowledge and experience of architecture, IT security, technology platforms and both business and functional domains? Can you rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new trends and technologies? Above all, do you have what it takes to make a real difference within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business environment?
If you offer all this and more we invite you to apply for the role of

Solution Architect

The role and its responsibilities
Working from our office in Arnhem, the Netherlands, you drive the successful translation of business needs into effective solutions. In doing so you ensure compatibility with the existing (technical) architecture within PS to ensure compliance with strategy, policy, guidelines, budget, and operational supportability. You also establish impact assessments.

Further, you design tests to ensure that solutions are fit for purpose, and you ensure quality and consistency with template design for deployment. In addition you design integration components and interfaces, integration test specifications, and you have input to training plans.

At all times you monitor the market to gain knowledge, understanding and relevance of emerging technologies. You also review the services maturity for a specific PS area and propose initiatives to improve the service.

As one of the team leaders, you drive knowledge, training and support across the application analysts in the hubs. At the same time you influence others with regard to the role and relevance of Solution Architecture in the business, identifying opportunities to build cross-functional working relationships.

As such, this is a role for candidates with the ability to see the whole picture while being able to focus on the detail. You are also able to remain neutral toward technology, vendor and product choices, while balancing the long- and short-term implications of individual decisions.

The role also requires strong analytical skills over multiple technical domains to identify opportunities and solutions, and the ability to solve problems using knowledge, experience and analysis of available information.
