AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry –has an outstanding opportunity for a Global Marketing Manager - Hair Styling. This position will develop and implement marketing plan for the assigned brand(s)/product(s)/ market(s) and co-authors Business Unit (Surface Chemistry) segment strategy. Leads large (sub) projects across multiple disciplines, and defines scope of the Marketing communication strategy. This position needs to demonstrate a high degree of understanding of our Innovation processes and be able to integrate market needs with our capabilities using that process to deliver new products to market. Financially aware, the Global Marketing Manager needs to be in tune with the business needs and maximize the customer impact and commercial value obtained within tight budgetary constraints.

This position can be located in Chicago, IL or Bridgewater, New Jersey

Specific Tasks:
- Stimulate and support the sales teams by sharing market, customer and competitor’s information
- Map existing markets, potential markets and competitors
- Provide marketing plans, PR materials and map all relevant exhibitions and support the sales managers to develop new prospects
- Define and assess market opportunities to optimize profitability by prioritization and expansion of consumption, to increase volume, revenue and contribution margin, and to improve profitability of existing products globally
- Within the approved marketing strategy ensure customer communications are prioritized against available opportunities to maximize ROI
- Work with customers, R&D and Sales to create profitable new products to help meet growth objectives
- Work together with RD&I, Sales and other key supporting functions to ensure efficient and effective product launches
- In conjunction with segment leaders develop compelling customer value propositions

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- Master/academic, MBA degree preferred
- Minimum of four (4) year of relevant experience in chemical or consumer goods marketing
- Fluency in English is a must, and skills in other relevant languages a plus
- Experience in a chemicals process related business environment is preferred
- Experience in innovating, marketing and PR processes
- Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills
- Comfortable working across global cultures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, listening, influencing, entrepreneurship, result oriented, negotiation, proven problem solving abilities and strong business acumen
- Excellent project management capabilities
- Experience in sales or sales management a plus
- Experience with typical stage and gate processes
- Must be able to travel upwards of 40% of the time
